Lord Krishna- the ultimate Management Guru

Although the topic could have been elaborated as much as Bhagavad Gita itself but I had a challenge to fit this article in 250 odd words for college magazine. I am greatly influenced and follower of Gita. Here is my sincere efforts.

Lord Krishna taught Arjuna self-development which is key to leadership skills.

If individual wants he can make or unmake. Many corporate can follow the teaching of the Gita for human resources development of the managers and workers.

What do Siemens India Ltd., Silicon Graphics DCM Data Systems, Ambuja Industries and Times of India have in common with Federal Express, American Airlines, New York Times and General Electric Inc. The fact is that all of them have realised the role as well as importance of the individual in human resource development and that self-development is the key to development of organization. The power of individual has been realised since eternity starting with Lord Krishna to present day.
We need leadership, not just brains,” says Roderick Wilkinson, Fellow of the Institute of Personal Management, U.K

The four fundamental functions of management process of modern management are

(1) Planning
(2) Organising
(3) Actuating
(4) controlling
Which were taught by Lord Sri Krishna to Arjuna 3000 years back through the dialogue between Arjuna and Lord Krishna, which became the Gita –The management epic.

Gita teaches the fundamentals about the development of individuals mind, concentration, self control, development of the character, knowledge, virtues, duty, work, action, devotion, leading to liberation. The Gita teaching will help the development of human resources, which is an asset to the organisation. One of the major goals of management is to develop human resources into hard to replace assets of a firm.

ARE AESTHETIC CREATIONS GIVING SHAPE OF LIFE TO ART?

Art as we all know is not mere hobby, skill or talent in much more deeper sense it has become a medium of awareness, awakening the masses rather than just past time. This view of art was truly shown in Kala Ghoda Art festival 2013, by showcasing various issues like Save Earth, Violence against Women, Female Foeticide. The artists beautifully crafted this serious & Heart trenching topics through the medium of art into common man’s mind.

Kala Ghoda art festival has been an epoch in developing art as an important part of our society also a base for other art & cultural festivals held in Mumbai. It has been a platform for young and talented artists encouraging their thoughts, ideas, creativity & skills at a stage where it can be admired by people. It gives chance to new faces each year. Hence it has been an inspiration for upcoming artist and their works since its inception in 1999.

Several changes has been made in organising, Sponsorship, venue etc. of the festival. A Rural visit to Igatpuri

INTRODUCTION:

The visit to IGATPURI as a part of our Rural MARKETING on 15th march 2013, was one among the very few incidents in life which influence our perspective and in which we get to learn various aspects of life. It was a first time visit to the villages for many of us. The enriched experience was an eye opener for most of the group members as the learning of the visit had a huge impact on the thought process of each member. Apart from sensitizing us about the social and economic aspect of rural India, we got exposed to various facets of development and the roles of all the stakeholders, be it governmental agencies,
NGO’s and the public themselves. We found that not only the planning of large government initiatives is important, but the implementation part is much more important which decides the success of such schemes.

EXPERIENCE:

In our visit our main purpose was to study the perspective of a rural consumer & effects of environment on its buying behavior. I was eager to practically visit a backward region and find roots of marketing. Our first visit was at a zilla parishad primary school in bhavali-khurd. The school was well maintained and as it was established in 1947 it had undergone lots of changes in the time period. I was amazed to see the response of students, they were very interactive & lively, however what I liked the most was all the facilities were provided to the school like water, food & electricity. The government had taken pains to reach out at every backward area which was appreciable. I had taken the task of interviewing school faculty & students among my group and I got to learn a whole set of new things which I was unaware of, other thing about this school which was unexpected that it had internet connection & students were even taught about I.T.
Next village which we visited was bhagatwadi a very small one compare to previous. The school was even smaller with only two class rooms and studies up to IVth. I had an opportunity to interview Principal Mr Pramod who was very co-operative & shared all the details about this school. However I was little disappointed the students didn’t have a class for their standard. Two standards jointly studied in one class and faculty was only two. The village was of scheduled tribe a very backward caste and I had immense sympathy for them.

Conclusion:
This visit made us aware about the policies thought about and being implemented by the government such as Mid-Day meals to curb Malnutrition and also free education under Right to Education Act. It was a beneficial visit I came to terms with the sufferings of rural areas and the development work carried on there.
